Rumours of Missile Strike at Dubai International Airport Dismissed by UAE Officials
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that a ballistic missile struck Dubai International Airport. The clarification came after several online videos appeared to show smoke rising above the airport area, sparking speculation about a possible attack.
The Government of Dubai Media Office confirmed that no missile strike or major incident occurred at the airport. Officials stated that operations at the airport were not affected by any attack.
According to the government’s statement, the smoke seen in viral videos was linked to a minor incident in the city caused by falling debris, not a missile impact. Authorities also confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Temporary Flight Disruptions Reported
Despite the official clarification, flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed limited air traffic over the Dubai region for a brief period. Some flights experienced average delays of 60 to 90 minutes, although airport schedules continued to show arrivals and departures.
Airlines later confirmed that flights were still operating to major regional airports including:
- Dubai International Airport
- Zayed International Airport
- Sharjah International Airport
- Fujairah International Airport
Return flights from these West Asian cities to Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad were also operating to assist Indian travellers.
Regional Tensions Continue
The rumours surfaced amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Reports of explosions were heard in Dubai while the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States continued to intensify.
In recent developments, Iran reportedly launched missile attacks toward Israel after explosions were reported in Tehran. Meanwhile, the administration of Donald Trump approved a new arms package for Israel, further raising geopolitical tensions in the region.
Situation Under Monitoring
Officials in the UAE have urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading unconfirmed claims online. Authorities confirmed that Dubai remains safe and normal operations continue across the city, including at its major transportation hubs.
The situation across the Middle East remains volatile, with international leaders closely monitoring developments as the conflict enters another critical phase.
